Q. How can I request technical assistance from the Higher Education Center?

A. Please visit the Get Our Help page to receive information regarding the technical assistance available through HECAOD. Technical Assistance is a service that was strongly utilized and supported by the former Higher Education Center. Our mission is to provide a similar range of services to support college campuses in implementing evidence-based practices.

Q. Is the Higher Education Center still funded by the U.S. Department of Education?

A. No. The U.S. Department of Education’s Higher Education Center lost funding in 2012 which resulted in the closing of the long-standing center. The Conrad. N. Hilton Foundation and The Ohio State University are the new Center’s founding partners. HECAOD will be sustained through a variety of additional funding channels.

Q. Can the Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Drug Misuse Prevention and Recovery evaluate programs or prevention strategies that have been implemented on my campus?

A. Yes. The Higher Education Center is committed to evidence-based practices and will provide these services to interested colleges and universities.

Q. Can a representative from the Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Drug Misuse Prevention and Recovery speak at our conference?

A. Yes. We provide a variety of large-scale trainings ranging from prevention to recovery. Please visit the Get Our Help page to learn more.

Q. Is the National Meeting going to be offered again now that the Center has reopened?

A. Yes. The Higher Education Center was pleased to host the 2015 National Meeting and is looking forward to next year’s conference.  The 2016 National Meeting will be held August 2nd-4th in Columbus, Ohio. Please visit the Events Page for more information and to register.
