Five $1,000 Grants Available for Campuses to Implement Prescription Drug Misuse Prevention Education
The Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Drug Misuse Prevention and Recovery is accepting applications for its first cycle of Generation Rx University Implementation Grants. Funds are available through a partnership between Zeta Tau Alpha, Generation Rx and the Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Drug Misuse Prevention and Recovery to support collegiate educational efforts toward instilling safe medication practices among students.
Grant proposals will be accepted from student wellness offices, or other departments housing prevention services with the following stipulations:
– At least 10 programs must be offered using the “Generation Rx University” resources; at least SEVEN of these must be within the fraternity and sorority community or individual chapters. Attendance requirement: a majority percentage of the membership of targeted student groups (e.g., student organizations, athletic teams, sorority/fraternity chapters) must attend each presentation.
– Evaluation surveys must be completed by project coordinators and participating students. These online instruments will be provided by the Higher Education Center to collect data on user perspectives relating to the Generation Rx University materials, participant knowledge gains, and behavioral intentions relating to the safe use of medications..
– A final project report must be submitted at the end of the grant year summarizing the project, outlining the use of funds, and delineating the number of programs offered and number of students attending.
A collaborative partnership with the fraternity and sorority life department is highly encouraged.
The Higher Education Center will provide support to the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation in the development of this initiative. It will also administer the implementation grant process and offer technical assistance to Zeta Tau Alpha chapters in the use of Generation Rx University resources, as well as campus organizations receiving implementation grant funding.
