Jennifer Cadigan, PhD, is a licensed psychologist and postdoctoral research fellow on a NIAAA-funded Individual National Research Service Award in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington. Her webinar will explore the theoretical approaches to cannabis prevention and intervention strategies. Additionally, she will describe the development and implementation of cannabis prevention and intervention efforts for diverse populations of college students.

Overview:
Tavis J. Glassman, PhD, MSEd, MPH, CHES, CCPH serves as a Professor at The University of Toledo in the School of Population Health. He earned his doctorate from the University of Florida and Masters in Public Health from The Ohio State University. He is a Master Certified Health Education Specialist and a Certified Communicator in Public Health. His session will share the results of a series of health communication campaigns created to reduce cannabis use and other psychotropic substances. Participants will learn theory-based strategies on how to develop and evaluate messages.

He is a Licensed Drug & Alcohol Counselor and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. The world of cannabis is evolving quickly, his session will explore the latest trends in how students are using cannabis and the culture that surrounds it.

What’s Up with CBD?: Campus Policies and Concerns Regarding This Trending Cannabinoid
Overview:
Dr. James Lange is the Executive Director of the Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Drug Misuse Prevention and Recovery, an academic center of The Ohio State University. He does this, while also remaining the Coordinator of Alcohol and Other Drug Initiatives for San Diego State University.
Many campuses are struggling with what to do about CBD. The Higher Education Center has received questions ranging from appropriate student sanctions for possession and to its impact on DFSCA compliance, all the way to the other side of the spectrum: can a campus sell it in its bookstore? Dr. Lange will explore the chemical, the confusion regarding its legal status, and reasonable concerns we have regarding its presence on campus.
