Leveraging Peer Education in Establishing Naloxone Education and Distribution Programs

At Trinity University, our Peer Health Educators have been instrumental in growing our health promotion office, including developing our Narcan program. In this session, you’ll learn about strategies to use as an advisor for empowering peer educators through training and mentorship, as well as models for structuring leadership opportunities that enable peer educators to be changemakers on campus and increase the capacity of your office. We’ll also take a deeper dive into the history and structure of Trinity’s Narcan Program, and share lessons learned from the perspective of a peer educator from proposing, designing, implementing, and evaluating a naloxone program at a small, private, liberal arts institution.
