This pre-con will focus on how to apply the fundamentals of the public health approach and Strategic Prevention Framework to higher education substance misuse prevention, explore the unique challenges inherent to prevention in higher education settings, and identify key resources, guides, partner organizations, and polices relevant to prevention in higher education settings. After attending, participants will be ready to implement evidence-based strategies to address higher education substance misuse prevention.

An Introduction to Collegiate Recovery Programs: Funding, Structure and Impact

Collegiate Recovery Programs (CRPS) are designed to provide recovery support services within the college environment. With this support, students are given the opportunity to maintain recovery and thrive while succeeding in college. This session will explore the rich history of collegiate recovery programs, their vital role as a part of campus services, and demonstrate the cost effectiveness of supporting these programs on your campus.

The Recovery is Spoken Here training is strongly recommended for any campus hoping to engage faculty or staff in becoming an ally for their students in or seeking recovery, helping to create a recovery-ready campus. A recovery-friendly campus is a campus with a culture of acceptance and empowerment for students in or seeking recovery so that they feel not only comfortable asking for help but also celebrated by the campus community.

Ohio Campus-Community Partnership Summit

Monday, July 29th from 10:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Campuses and communities can collaborate to efficiently meet student behavioral health needs. By pooling resources, they can enhance mental health services, address substance use issues, implement prevention strategies, and promote overall student wellness. This summit will showcase the advantages of campus community partnerships, share successful projects, and discuss the impact of cannabis legalization on student wellness in Ohio. This session is intended for Ohio-based professionals and registration is now open.
