The College Prescription Drug Study (CPDS)
The College Prescription Drug Study (CPDS) is a multi-institutional survey of undergraduate, graduate and professional students that examines the non-medical use of prescription drugs, including the reasons for and consequences of use, access to prescription drugs and perceptions of use among students. The purpose of the CPDS is to gain a more thorough understanding of the non-medical use of prescription drugs among college students. The CPDS was developed through a partnership of The Ohio State University’s Center for the Study of Student Life, Student Wellness Center, and College of Pharmacy.
The 2022 reports include: a Multi-institutional Descriptive Report, a Key Findings Report, as well as four research briefs (Differences by Academic Variables, Differences by Demographic Variables, Sorority & Fraternity Life – Part I and Part II).
College AIM
The National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA)’s College Alcohol Intervention Matrix (College AIM) is an easy to use and comprehensive resource to help campuses identify effective alcohol interventions. It ranks both individual and environmental strategies on their effectiveness, cost, and barriers.
Prevention with Purpose: A Strategic Planning Guide for Preventing Drug Misuse Among College Students
The Drug Enforcement Administration’s Campus Drug Prevention developed the Prevention with Purpose: A Strategic Planning Guide for Preventing Drug Misuse Among College Students to serve as a roadmap for collegiate professionals to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, from students to administrators, to address campus-wide drug misuse issues. In addition to the guide, Campus Drug Prevention also offers a related web series and supplemental resources for community and technical colleges, campus police, faculty, and senior administrators.
The Guide to the Eight Professional Competencies for Higher Education Substance Misuse Prevention
Developed through the Mid-America PTTC, in partnership with David S. Anderson, Ph.D. and a planning body of subject matter experts in the field of substance use prevention on college campuses, The Guide to the Eight Professional Competencies for Higher Education Substance Misuse Prevention was designed to promote enhanced professional skills and ultimately significantly impact college students’ decisions surrounding drugs and alcohol. The Guide provides a broad understanding of the range of skills necessary for orchestrating comprehensive campus prevention efforts. The resulting compilation organizes competencies within eight core areas; further, it provides specific resources helpful for each of these areas and for overall professional development. As a whole, this Professional Competencies Guide provides a current framework that helps campus leaders and dedicated professionals move things forward, to work more efficiently, and to be more effective.
College Gambling Resources
The International Center for Responsible Gaming (ICRG) has developed a comprehensive resource on collegiate problem gambling called collegegambling.org. This website has resources geared for student, parents, administrators, and health and wellness professionals to give each the tools they need to reduce harm from problem gambling.
