Academic recovery spaces – such as CRPs, CRCs, and Recovery Schools – have been incredibly beneficial to Students in Recovery (SIRs). However, many of these spaces lack a program that prepares SIRs for sustaining their recovery in an unfamiliar environment following graduation. Establishing a curriculum that identifies potential roadblocks and addresses domains of sustained recovery may provide SIRs with the necessary tools to maintain their recovery. This webinar seeks to encourage recovery professionals working with graduating or transitioning SIRs to consider the barriers students may face and develop programming to reduce said barriers.
Learning Objectives:
- Attendees will be able to identify and articulate specific challenges faced by individuals in recovery (e.g., managing triggers, maintaining sobriety, maintaining relationships) when transitioning from a structured environment like a recovery program or school to post-graduation life.
- Attendees will learn and practice at least three recovery-centered coping strategies (such as utilizing sober support networks, mindfulness techniques, or relapse prevention tools) to manage stress and stay grounded during the transition to life after graduation.
- Attendees will be able to develop a comprehensive, personalized post-graduation recovery plan, including setting realistic goals for maintaining recovery, identifying local recovery resources, and creating a support system to enhance long-term well-being.
